Pignans is a small village offering lots of charm. During the hot summer months locals and visitors find shade under the plane trees and enjoy the coolness from the 16 fountains.
Sites of historic interest include the Notre Dame de la Nativite church built in 1686, a Saracen clock tower and bell tower and the Town Hall (Hotel de Ville), residence of Jules Gerard the famous hunter (nicknamed the Lion Killer) born 1817. A French Officer and Author he died in West Africa in 1864.
The village is situated at the foot of the Maures Mountains and is a great area for hiking and camping. Lots of Gites and restaurants with a weekly market on Thursday mornings.
