The village of Le Rayol-Canadel-Sur-Mer was named by the Sunday Times as the South of Frances’s undiscovered secret. This delightful village overlooks the sea with the Maures Mountains rising north of the village. Trees and flowers are everywhere with 80% of the village made up of cork oak trees, heather and mimosa. It is in this location you will find some of the most beautiful and luxurious homes of the Mediterranean.
The monumental staircase which leads to the sea and the stairs in the village centre which end up at a pergola known as the Pateck are a must to visit. The village offers excellent restaurants and activities include hiking, tennis, windsurfing, water skiing and scuba diving. During the summer season there are classical music concerts and night clubs.
The creeks and bays shelter 4 sandy beaches, one of which was used for the allied debarkation on 14 August 1944.
Wonderful walks along the coast and into the Massif des Maures take in the outstanding beauty of this area. There are designated cycle routes through the Massif and along the coast.
Le Rayol Canadel is situated in the gulf of Saint Tropez between Cavalaire and Le Lavandou on the Côte d’Azur, 20 km west of Saint Tropez.
Le Lavandou lies 10 km from the village where you can take a ferry to the beautiful Isles d’Hyères and the Island Port Cros – no cars allowed just perfect walks along the sandy beaches and among the stunning scenery, excellent swimming and tempting food.
