Cavalaire-sur-Mer lies between Le Lavandou and St Tropez. Between the Massif des Maures and a white sand beach more than 3 km long, the town is located alongside the 2nd most reputed scuba-diving site of the Mediterranean coast, and the stunning nature reserve islands of Port Cros and Porquerolles. The marina of Cavalaire holds 1200 moorings.
Nature lovers adore this location with footpaths and rambling trails filled with the scents of myrtles, eucalyptus and arbutus. An old fisherman village attached to the Mediterranean way of life, Cavalaire keeps traditions alive with Provençal markets and terraced cafés. A young and dynamic town, Cavalaire continues to provide animation all year round with all the services a town can offer, plus the use of recently refurbished facilities such as gymnasiums and media centre.
With more than 300 days of sunshine each year, unique daylight enhancing the colours of the town and sea, and beach names that immediately put you in a holiday mood such as Tahiti, La Madrague or Pampelonne. Saint-Tropez, so close, so different. At the entrance of the peninsula, Cavalaire benefits from Saint-Tropez being nearby with its international bustle: luxurious shops, famous restaurants, processions of yachts and stars, and only a few kilometers from the marina of Cavalaire. Nonetheless, Cavalaire has managed to retain its own identity of wild, unspoilt sites making it a town with real charm of its own.
Vineyards are everywhere with little villages scattered throughout, all famous for their delicious Côtes de Provence wines. Places to visit include Ramatuelle, a small and typically Provencal village, Gassin, an ancient fortified village and La Croix-Valmer overlooking the Bay of Cavalaire and Grimaud with its feudal castle. The popular resort of Le Lavandou can be reached across the bay by passenger-ferry service.
