The intense turquoise blue of the Mediterranean Sea against a backdrop of varying shades of blue in the sky awaken your senses. The contrast against the green and white pine covered hills as they fall into the sea and the golden beaches cause you to reel from the beauty. The sun shining on the brightly coloured houses dotted throughout the coastal villages. The vivid splashes of red from the geraniums, yellow from sunflowers, purple from the lavender growing in profusion among the olive trees and vineyards. The tropical splendour from the palm trees. All of this combined with the heady fragrance from the wild herbs and the song of the crickets. No wonder this region charmed great artists including Cezanne and Van Gogh.
In the summer musicians come from all over the world to Provence and perform at the many festivals. Here one can find 900 km of beaches and marinas. Provence is of course known for its olive groves, lavender and the famous vineyards of Côtes du Rhône, Côtes de Provence and Bandol, everything growing in about 3000 hours of sunlight per year.
It is no wonder we return again and again to savour the delights of this magical land.
