The original Tall Ship’s Race took place in 1956 from Torbay to Lisbon and was repeated in 2006 the 50th anniversary of this amazing event.
There are two separate events taking place during 2007 comprising of a Baltic Tall Ships Race and a Mediterranean Tall Ships Race.
For the Mediterranean Tall Ships Race, some 70 to 100 vessels from 15-20 countries, with young trainees enjoying an experience of a lifetime, will gather for a pre-race practice on Spain’s Mediterranean coast at Alicante from 4 – 7 July. The first race will commence up the coast to Barcelona between 12 – 15 July.
From Barcelona the annual “Cruise in Company” takes place for six days (15-21 July) as the fleet heads past the Pyrenees and across to France, mooring at Toulon between 21 – 24 July. Race 2 begins 24 July when the last chance to see the fleet will be 28-31 July in Genoa one of Italy’s most historic ports.
